Insulation Types

1 Layer Non-Insulated Garage Door

Non-insulated

Our most economical door construction type, the non-insulated garage door will be one layer of steel with a hollow backing. It does not provide any insulation or temperature control and will not offer the same added strength as the multi-layered doors.

2-Layer Insulated Garage Door

Two-Layer Polystyrene Insulated

A good mid-grade option, this door contains a layer of steel on the front, polystyrene insulation on the interior side of the door, and is coated with a vinyl backing; Slightly more cost effective than the three-layer steel back but the R-Value (insulation factor) will be less and it will be more prone to damage on the vinyl vs a steel backing.

3 Layer Insulated Garage Door

Three-Layer Polystyrene Insulated (Best Seller!)

Our best seller and our top pick! This door offers a perfect amount of insulation for most homeowners while offering a solid construction type with steel on the front, two inches of high-quality polystyrene insulation on the interior, and another solid layer of steel on the back for extreme durability and excellent temperature control.

Three-Layer Polyurethane Insulated (Highest R-Value)

Our polyurethane insulated door is an excellent option for those that have a temperature-controlled garage and want an energy efficient, top-of-the-line door to help keep it toasty in the winter and cool in the summer months while potentially reducing gas and electricity costs. This door will be more costly than the standard insulated door but is a great option for those that may have converted the garage into a room, keep temperature sensitive supplies in the garage, or just prefer to have the best of the best. The construction will be a solid layer of steel on the front, two inches of premium polyurethane insulation on the interior, and a solid layer of steel on the backside for maximum strength and durability.

**The garage itself should already be insulated in order for insulated doors to truly make a difference.
